![]() Hopefully that answered some of your questions, my apologies for my essay lol.Tint World ® has been the #1 car window tinting installation center for over 30 years, but even with our experience in automotive window tinting, our Tint World ® locations often get asked about the difference between factory tinted windows versus aftermarket window tinting for cars, truck and SUVs. But as long as you stick to their top tier sub-brand of films (3M Pro series, XPEL Ultimate Plus, Suntek Ultra C), you as the consumer won't really notice a difference. I noticed a huge difference between 3M, XPEL, Suntek and STEK when it came to installing. When they told me I couldn't install anything BUT their brand of ceramic coating, or else they wouldn't honor my warranties, I knew it was the end of my relationship with them.Īt the end of the day, I would say PPF brands don't really affect the end consumer, it's more-so for the installer. ![]() I like XPEL, but I would say the last couple years, they've become too corporate for my liking. I've heard of two situations where an install shop was charging almost 30% less then the market, and XPEL did cut them off. Now if XPEL found out one of their buyers was undercutting the market at a stupid amount, their rep would go pay them a visit. I would say there was an un-written rule between cities and larger shops to try and stay within a range. I can't speak for the USA, but in Canada, there wasn't MAP pricing. Lucky, I sold the business before the "all in or nothing" business model came about. When I had my retail shop, we used only XPEL for our PPF and tint needs. So to your point, I owned my own professional detailing studio for about eight years, and then sold it to an interested buyer, and now am a PPF installer/area manager for a large auto group. Or option two, flatten out the bottom and side of the headlight and but a vertical cut a bit of the way in. ( Looking at some of pre-cut packs from like xpel, the headlights all have a relief cut in them.įor the relief cuts i would say you have 2 options, either do a single horizontally on the edge to remove the excess material and flatten the top and bottom sections. (The felt stuff is for vinyl wrap, not wet ppf I would not use that hard card to do the install as it would scratch the ppf. Get a proper squeegee and loose the felt edge. Use ALLOT, more slip for both underneath and ontop. There maybe too much film to press down.( in your case it does not look like the case, just bad install technique) Not using enough slip on both under the film, and on top whilst squeegeeing. The reason why you are getting the creases is because you are: Even if you have to use relief cuts, that's ok. Have you tried to put in some relief cuts? I would say that if this is your first attempt, you goal should be just to get it on. So if the kit you bought off ebay is 3M VViViD, its fake. The only place you see this label is in knock off ebay/amazon. It maybe/has been made in the same factory, but the specs are completely different. ![]() ![]() ![]() To my knowledge there is no such thing as 3M VViViD, those are two separate companies. I am just someone who watches a bunch of youtube, and thinks that its a cool skill to DIY/learn. I want to preface this response with, I am not a professional, I am not event an enthused/ amatuer that knows anything. ![]()
